FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ONTARIO, CANADA, July 21, 1999 - Enlogix CIS is
pleased to announce that British Columbia based Pacific Northern
Gas (PNG) is now successfully using the company's Banner Customer
Information System. During the past week, Enlogix has taken the
system "live" to manage the customer care and billing
functions for PNG's 40,000 natural gas customers.
According to Peter Midgley, PNG's Manager of Planning and Special
Projects, who was responsible for the CIS implementation, "We
had tremendous support from the Enlogix team during this extremely
complex process of preparation and system implementation. I'm very
pleased with their efforts as well as those of our internal project
group."
PNG installed the new system for several reasons. Firstly, the
legacy system, which was designed some 15 years ago, was not year
2000 compliant. The Banner CIS alleviates that concern. Secondly,
the Banner system will enable PNG to keep current with the requirements
of the ever-changing energy marketplace without a need for internal
resources to develop their own system upgrades. Thirdly, the new
system permits outsourcing of the data centre operation and bill
printing and remittance processing functions to Enlogix. This offers
PNG economies of scale that would not be available internally and
allows the company to focus on its primary mission - safe and efficient
fulfillment of customer needs.
Anthony Haines, president of Enlogix CIS, said, "Our new CIS
solution assists PNG in maintaining its superior levels of customer
service supporting PNG's numerous field offices over its extensive
service area. PNG has demonstrated tremendous foresight to switch
to a flexible, scalable customer information system."
Haines added, "Our CIS system equips utilities to take advantage
of changes brought on by deregulation and increased competition
in the energy marketplace. The rich functionality in Banner enables
a utility to Enhance its understanding of customers, and provide
the high level of service required to meet their needs."
The Enlogix CIS offering is ideally suited to today's changing
energy marketplace. Clients have a range of flexible options, pay
only for what they need and avoid the high cost and risk of developing
complex systems only to have them become obsolete in a deregulated
market.
PNG opted for a total business solution. That translates into Enlogix
owning and operating the central processing hardware and assuming
the risks and responsibility of database protection and security,
system operation and software performance. PNG's requirements are
limited to supply of desktop hardware and local servers and the
operation of its inter-office communications system.
As the exclusive Canadian reseller of SCT Utility Systems' Banner
line of Customer Management software products, Enlogix CIS supplies
customer information products to Electric, water and gas utilities
and energy services companies, serving approximately two million
Canadian customers. Enlogix CIS is a subsidiary of Enlogix Inc.,
which in turn is controlled by Westcoast Energy, Inc.
