SAN FRANCISCO, CA., July 19, 1999 -SPL WorldGroup, Inc. (SPL), a leading international provider of information technology consulting and enterprise solutions, and Idaho Power Company today announced that Idaho Power has chosen SPL's CIS PLUSŪ software product to replace its 20-year-old legacy customer information system. This investment will give Idaho Power a significantly more flexible system that arms it for future growth and the development of new services. Identified in Public Utilities Fortnightly, a leading industry publication, as "th most efficient investor-owned utility in the nation", Idaho Power is dedicated to Offering services to700,000 people in an area that includes southern Idaho, eastern Oregon and Northern Nevada.

"The project team at Idaho Power did extensive homework before choosing SPL to provide our new customer information system," said Warren Kline, general manager of customer service and metering at Idaho Power. "SPL's CIS PLUS was the best match for Idaho Power's business requirements. As a result, we are embarking on this project with high expectations that it will ensure Idaho Power delivers on its goals of customer satisfaction and operational profitability.

Idaho Power has a number of key objectives going into this major upgrade project and believes CIS PLUS can help deliver on those. Among the most important are: - providing a customer information system that will ensure customer support representatives have more comprehensive customer information - providing more efficient customer service in an eventual 24-hour, 7-day-a-week environment; - upgrading to a more flexible system that can deal with future business developments such as the integration of new subsidiaries and new services; - implementing a single product that provides the ability to address the requirements and needs of different customers sets and across different states; - and ensuring that this new customer information system meets Idaho Power's goal of continuing to build its reputation as a provider of low-cost services.

"SPL is delighted to announce another win for CIS PLUS in the utility industry and very gratified to benefit from such strong support from its existing customer base," said Jim Reardon, senior vice president of SPL WorldGroup's Utility Solutions Practice. "Idaho Power has a stellar reputation in the industry and being chosen by them for such an important component of their business is very rewarding to SPL."

In addition to the above-mentioned advantages, the installation of CIS PLUS will also help automate a number of functions at Idaho Power that had to be carried out manually under the current system. Idaho Power expects to benefit from overall efficiencies and cost savings from such changes. In addition, as CIS PLUS is highly flexible it can be optimized for both regulated and deregulated markets, giving Idaho Power an extra advantage in a changing market. Today's announcement adds to the growing list of recent wins for CIS PLUS and reflects the rapidly increasing popularity of CIS PLUS as a customer information system, both for regulated and deregulated utility markets.
