HTE Signs Bahamas Water &
Sewerage Corp.
$1.8 million deal is for CIS, Financial
software suite on AS/400 system
LAKE MARY, FL., April 19, 1999 - Bahamas Water
& Sewerage Corp. has signed a US $1.8 million contract with
HTE, Inc. (NASDAQ: HTEI), a public-sector software solutions provider,
for customer service and financials applications for the utility.
"We conducted an international competitive bid in accordance
with the corporation's policies and those of the Inter-American
Development Bank, and HTE came out on top," said Sandra Edgecombe,
senior manager of the business office. "We were looking for
full integration, which for us will generate efficiencies in staff
utilization. We need to bring our field records and customer service
records in line so we can get the big picture and improve efficiencies.
This is especially true in complaint handling and service orders.
I think we can serve the customer so much better now."
Bahamas Water & Sewerage Corp. serves 38,000 water customers
as well as sewer system customers in New Providence and elsewhere
on the islands, for a total of about 50,000 customers.

The new system will run on the dependable IBM AS/400, and implementation
is expected to be completed by Jan 1, 2000. The training is being
done on-site at Bahamas Water & Sewerage offices.
HTE's software suite for Bahamas Water & Sewerage features
applications that fully automate the various processes associated
with the utility's services. The suite includes Customer Information
System (CIS), Financials, Continuing Property Records, Work Orders/Facility
Management and Contract Management. Bahamas Electric Corp. also
uses HTE's utility software suit.
