Peace Software and InSITE Services
Team to provide Interactive Customer Information Services to Deregulated
Utilities Market
First Joint Customer is Pepco Services,
Inc., an affiliate of Potomac Electric Power Company, which will use
Peace Software and InSITE Services to Launch Interactive Customer
Information Services to Pennsylvania Consumers
NEW ORLEANS, November 2, 1998 - LaAmerican Gas Association/Edison
Electric Institute Information Technology Conference November 2, 1998
Peace Software, a leading provider of web-based customer information
management and billing systems for the gas, electric and water industries,
today announced that InSITE Services, L.P., an energy information
management and billing solutions service bureau, will use its Energy
Software to help Energy Service Providers (ESPs) better manage their
businesses. The first InSITE customer to use the Peace Energy
solution is Pepco Services, Inc., the retail energy services affiliate
of Potomac Electric Power Company, which will provide energy and related
services including interactive web-based customer information services
to residential consumers and businesses in Pennsylvania.
The Peace Software Energy product is a comprehensive customer
management and billing system designed and customized for energy service
provider clients. Energy includes all functions needed for ESPs to
Deliver total customer care, including Internet customer service,
ESP consolidated billing or commodity-only billing, enrollment, and
settlements. It is unique in providing a browser user interface, enabling
electricity customers to easily access service provider web sites
for interactive information about billing, utility usage, inquiries
and support.
Our alliance with InSITE will help to usher in new interactive
utility services for consumers and businesses, and will streamline
operational costs and resources for innovative ESPs, said Brian
Peace, CEO and founder, Peace Software. Peace has
a large customer base in New Zealand and Australia, and we are moving
aggressively to fulfill demand in the deregulated North American utilities
market; we're pleased to add InSITE Services and Pepco Services to
our quickly growing roster of North American customers.
InSITE will provide us with a unique opportunity to expand our
services in rapidly emerging markets, added Peace. InSITE's
expertise as a service bureau is widely recognized and we fully believe
that this relationship will be an excellent distribution channel for
the Energy product.
Pepco Services is currently signing up customers and will roll-out
energy services to Pennsylvania-based consumers January 1st, when
the market is officially deregulated. InSITE with the
Peace Energy system offers more customization and flexibility, offers
advanced rate designed features, and is better positioned to service
our long-term customer-care needs, than other products on the market,
said Rod Larson, vice president, product development, Pepco Services.
In addition, because we are outsourcing billing and all related
services, we are able to get up and running quickly without a large
initial capital outlay. By choosing InSITE, we are guaranteeing
timely implementation and quality processing.
InSITE Services, a leading service bureau providing innovative information
and billing services to the utility industry, is positioned to provide
ESPs with an alternative to developing their own internal billing
and customer information systems. InSITE's billing solutions
can be customized to meet the exact requirements of clients.
Some clients require simply the calculation and printing of bills,
while others use the full functionality of the Peace Energy system
including comprehensive customer database, customer marketing and
other customer care functions.
With the deregulation of the utilities industry, InSITE has
experienced a dramatic increase in its business volume in the last
six months, said Jonathon Shaevitz, president and co-founder,
InSITE Services. We are pleased to be working with Peace
Software to provide our customers with billing and customer-care capabilities,
and to help them off-load day-to-day operational tasks so they can
focus on the high-level aspects of running a retail commodity sales
and energy services business.
The Peace Energy system has been fully deployed at InSITE's headquarters,
and has been incorporated into InSite's Utility Navigator®, a state-of-the-art,
Internet-based electronic utility billing and information system.
The InSITE Utility Navigator® represents a breakthrough in the management
of utility costs and was designed to complement and enhance corporate
cost reduction programs.
Quite simply, we chose the Peace Energy software because it
is the best, and they are the leader in providing billing capabilities
in unregulated markets, said Robert Obeiter, vice president,
InSITE Services. The number of installations deployed
around the world and in deregulated markets, the excellent browser-based
features of the product, and the ease of working with Brian Peace
and his team all contributed to our decision.
