SCT Announces A Record 23 Utility
Service Providers Went Live with SCT Banner During Fiscal Year 1998
MALVERN, PA, October 21, 1998 SCT (Nasdaq:SCTC),
announced today that a record 23 utility service providers went
live with the SCT Banner Customer Management System during fiscal
year 1998, which ended September 30. Of that record number, 12 utility
service providers implemented Banner during the fourth quarter of
fiscal 1998.
Utility providers who went live with SCT in the fourth quarter
include Green Mountain Power (NYSE:GMP), an investor owned utility
which is the ninth-largest company in terms of revenue in the state
of Vermont; Citizens Water Resources, a subsidiary of Citizens Utilities
(NYSE:CZN), the fourth largest public water utility in the United
States; and the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (ALCOSAN), which
provides wastewater treatment to320,000 customers in Pittsburgh
and surrounding areas.
"We have more than three times as many customer information
systems operational in a live client-server environment as any other
CIS provider, according to a recent market study," said Bill
Mahoney, president of SCT Utility Systems, a division of SCT. "In
an industry where information technology projects are often delivered
late and over budget, the track record we have developed for timely
implementations is a significant achievement."
Worldwide, SCT utility clients bill and serve approximately 18,000,000
customers. The Banner suite of products and services provide a full
range of capabilities for utilities entering an era of deregulation.
"Utilities seeking to remain competitive as deregulation approaches
have turned to SCT for our accelerated implementation methodologies,"
Mahoney said. "Our replicable core product lets utilities implement
and operate large-scale customer management systems with highly
predictable cost, schedule and function. We consistently remain
cheaper, faster and better than traditional alternatives. Plus our
clients," he added, "receive new releases and enhancements
through our Technical Currency (TCP) program to stay up-to-date
with the most current application capabilities and technology."
Several energy service providers have implemented the Banner technology
in 4 to7 months, including Edison Source, an unregulated California-based
subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE: EIX), and AllEnergy, Waltham,
Mass., an independent wholly-owned subsidiary of New England Electric
Systems (NYSE: NES).
Others who achieved operational status with Banner during fiscal
year 98 include the Orlando (Florida) Utilities Commission, the
City of Etobicoke, a municipality of Toronto, Canada, and municipal
utilities in New Bern, Goldsboro and Kinston, North Carolina.
"Our proven software, product development and implementation
methodologies make it possible for SCT to provide a comprehensive
customer management system to utilities of all shapes and sizes,"
Mahoney said. "Even organizations with limited resources can
implement quickly and provide superior customer-service levels.
These customers benefit from the range of industry best practices
and process improvement that are continually embodied in SCT's products
and implementation services."
