RANCHO CORDOVA, CA., August 14, 1998 - CableData Inc., a subsidiary of USCS International (NASDAQ: USCS), has acquired Custima International plc, one of the world's leading billing and customer care providers to the utilities industry. The deal marks a major milestone for CableData's entry into utilities markets via the CUSTIMA® software, one of the utility industry's most popular and well-tested customer care and billing systems.

CUSTIMA software is currently deployed in 15 countries and recently entered the US market with contracts to provide service for the Chester Water Authority in Pennsylvania and the City of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Custima currently serves clients in the electricity, water, gas and waste management industries, as well as non-traditional utility service fields, and bills a combined base of over 6 million households.

The CUSTIMA software is an open-system product that runs in all standard versions of UNIX on at least six hardware platforms, as well as Windows NT®. Functionality of the application includes customer marketing, meter management, complex billing, credit management and customer contact processing. CUSTIMA meets the business needs of large and small utility, public service and service organizations.

Custima International plc, is based in Rochester, England. It specializes in developing and implementing the CUSTIMA customer information and billing system, using its ISO 9001-certified development processes. The CUSTIMA system was developed for use by water, wastewater, electricity and gas utilities and municipal governments.
