Aquilium Signs Billing Contract in North Carolina

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI, June 5, 1998 – Aquilium Software Corporation, a leading provider of information management software for utilities, announced today that it has signed an ongoing agreement with the Orange Water and Sewage Authority (OWASA), which serves Carrboro and Chapel Hill in North Carolina.

The contract, worth $195,600 US in the first year and $15,250 US in annual maintenance, has opened the gates for Aquilium to modernize the water utility's antiquated and disjointed billing system.

"Aquilium's software solution is just what we need to take us into the next millennium," said Stephen Woolley, Information Systems Director at OWASA. "It will help us streamline our processes, access information more quickly and, more importantly, serve our customers better."

Stephen Pate, Aquilium President and CEO, said "We're thrilled to be servicing OWASA. Using our Customer Service Management (CSM) solution, they will soon realize the cost-cutting benefits of enhanced customer service and increased staff productivity. We offer a flexible, affordable and complete billing and financial solution."

Aquilium CSM, designed for water, electrical and natural gas utilities serving 10,000 – 300,000 clients, is a proven Year 2000-compliant, customer information, billing and accounting system. It comprises five modules, including Billing, Service Orders, Collections, Meter Reading Integration and Electronic Transfer. OWASA, which currently processes bills for 15,500 customers with a data service bureau that is not Year 2000 compliant, plans to implement all five core CSM modules, plus General Ledger, Payables Management, Bank Reconciliation, Payroll and Modifier with Visual Basic for Applications modules from Great Plains Software.

OWASA chose Aquilium CSM because they needed a Windows NT-based solution that would integrate their billing and information systems completely while working seamlessly with Great Plains' financial software. Because Aquilium has partnerships with Microsoft and Great Plains Software—two of the most powerful companies in the software industry—the water utility is guaranteed leading-edge technology and continued support by those partners.
