Austin City Council and Austin
Electric Utility Award Customer Information and Billing Services Contract
to en·able
AUSTIN, TX., January 21, 1998 - The City of Austin
announced today that the Austin City Council has approved a $51.5
million contract with en·able to provide new utility customer information
and billing solution. en·able is a partnership between KN Energy
(NYSE:KNE) of Lakewood, CO and PacifiCorp (NYSE:PPW) of Portland,
OR. The implementation of this new service will begin immediately;
full implementation is expected to be completed by the end of 1998.
Austin, TX - January 21, 1998 - The City of Austin announced today
that the Austin City Council has approved a $51.5 million contract
with en·able to provide new utility customer information and billing
solution. en·able is a partnership between KN Energy (NYSE:KNE)
of Lakewood, CO and PacifiCorp (NYSE:PPW) of Portland, OR. The implementation
of this new service will begin immediately; full implementation
is expected to be completed by the end of 1998.
Contractual phases of this project and the associated costs include
an installation phase with costs of $4.5 million and an ongoing
billing services phase which will span a ten-year period with total
costs of $47 million.
The en·able customer information and billing solution is a comprehensive
service which integrates the expertise of service providers IBM,
Orcom Systems, and DocuCorp International. The City of Austin has
retained TMG Consulting, Inc., an Austin based Company, to provide
quality assurance services.
Austin Electric Utility General Manager Milton Lee commented, "The
new customer information and billing solution will further improve
service to Austin's utility customers, support new products and
services being developed by Austin Electric and streamline our process
in providing one-stop utility services".
