Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Ontario Enhances Customer Service and Boosts Operational Efficiency Using Hansen

SACRAMENTO, CA., February 7, 2003 – Hansen Information Technologies, the leading provider of solutions for government operations, today announced that the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada has gone live with Hansen’s Community Development and Regulation (CDR) solution. The Municipality is currently using the solution to manage its citizen service request, permitting, planning, licensing, by-law enforcement, case and property standards compliance activities.

“With the Hansen system, the Municipality now has information that can be accessed by the people who need it, when they need it,” said Diane Gagner, Mayor, Municipality of Chatham-Kent. “This new information technology solution gives our staff the ability to have comprehensive, cross-departmental data at their fingertips.”

“With information accessibility significantly increased, we can immediately respond to our customers with answers to their questions,” said Paul Lacina, Project Manager for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. “For example, if a citizen calls for a status update on a business license application, anyone at the Municipality using the Hansen system can immediately access this information on-the-spot. And because there are several departments connected to the system, we can quickly check to see if the necessary fire and health inspections have also occurred.”

Hansen’s CDR solution enables the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to connect several municipal functions and share information that is critical to multiple departments. To date, Chatham-Kent has used the Hansen system to process more than 300 business licenses, over 1000 building permits, 135 planning applications and 6,500 animal licenses. Prior to implementing Hansen, many of these services were managed manually.
